We are looking for motivated and dedicated Electrical Apprentices to join our team in Canmore. This position offers an excellent opportunity for hands-on training in the electrical trade with a variety of working environments.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Journeymen in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, systems, and equipment in residential and commercial settings.
Support the team in following all relevant electrical codes and safety regulations specific to Alberta.
Learn to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Operate, maintain, and organize electrical tools and equipment safely.
Participate in troubleshooting electrical issues, making necessary repairs or adjustments.
Ensure the work environment is clean, safe, and well-organized by following proper workplace safety protocols.
Attend relevant training and educational sessions to meet apprenticeship program requirements.
Develop an understanding of Alberta’s specific electrical regulations and safety standards.
Track work hours and document progress in the apprenticeship program as required by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry
Training (AIT) standards.
Provide support in the inspection and testing of electrical systems to ensure they meet safety standards and operational requirements.
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (Grade 12).
Enrollment in the Alberta Electrical Apprenticeship Program or willingness to register (must be eligible to begin an apprenticeship).
Basic knowledge of electrical systems and an eagerness to learn the trade.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred.
Willingness to work in varying environments, including indoors, outdoors, and in potentially hazardous conditions.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Own a set of hand tools
Preferred Skills:
Previous experience or interest in the electrical trade (preferred but not required).
Familiarity with hand tools and power tools commonly used in electrical work.
Basic knowledge of the Alberta Electrical Code and safety protocols is an asset.
